The Story of Afanti Noodle Bazaar

About Us

We invite you to visit our restaurant

Xinjiang, nestled in the northwest of China, holds the prestige of being the ancient initial capital and houses the famous terra cotta army. Known as the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, Xinjiang's unique culinary traditions blend Chinese flavours with Middle Eastern influences. With a cultural preference for noodles and bread over rice in northern China, Xinjiang's cuisine features a variety of these staples. Historical records suggest that its food is characterised by a bold and spicy palate, thanks to an abundance of spices traded along the Silk Road, including cumin, chili, and Sichuan peppercorns. The cuisine of Xinjiang, and the wider Shaanxi province, is especially famous for its two dominant flavour profiles: the "spicy and sour" and the "fragrantly spicy" tastes. Afanti, located in Brisbane, is excited to introduce the vibrant, traditional, and authentic flavours of Western China to its local residents! Our renowned Grilled Lamb Skewer, delicately charred on the outside and tender on the inside, holds a special place in the unique cuisine of Western China globally. Our Braised Lamb encased in Nan bread is an undeniable crowd-pleaser, with its generous portion size and rich authentic flavour that has captured numerous hearts. The universally adored Mutton Rice is celebrated for its hearty and savoury taste. The ever-popular Xinjiang Braised Chicken never fails to impress with its vivid hues and beautiful plating.

What Our Customers Say

I really appreciate that they offer a wide range of flavorsome selections ranging from stir-fry, cold plates to freshly hand-made noodles and dumplings. In an age where everything is somewhat homogeneous and mass produced, this little eatery is real gem!

Wow, very unassuming little place, but the food is incredible. I'm very picky, but we tried the veg steamed buns, a beef bread and a mix of mushroom and tofu skin from the “cold bar”. The food is very fresh and tasty and the staff helpful and friendly. I had not tried Uyghur cuisine before, but I'm instantly a fan. Will definitely make a point of stopping there next time I'm in the area.

A variety of delicious stir fries, steam buns and cold salads. Definitely a must try. Halal Uyghur cuisine, run by friendly owners.
